CAE’s training systems integration work brings together the equipment, instructional material, software and facilities needed to deliver a military training program. Its published approach spans classroom learning, simulation, live training and mission rehearsal across air, land, maritime and joint-force applications. CAE training systems integration.
From operational tasks to a training system
The design process starts with the tasks personnel need to perform and the skills they need to develop. CAE describes analyzing operational missions, training objectives and the gap between existing performance and future requirements. That analysis helps determine the appropriate combination of instruction, training devices and exercises. Task analysis.
The resulting system can combine courseware, classroom instruction, part-task trainers, team-training equipment and full-mission simulation. CAE also describes integrated learning management, briefing and debriefing tools, and networked training for distributed mission exercises. Its live-virtual-constructive approach connects live activity, simulators and computer-generated exercise elements within a broader training environment. Training systems integration.
Canadian example: Future Aircrew Training
Canada’s Future Aircrew Training program illustrates how responsibilities can be divided between a program contractor and training-system suppliers. In May 2024, SkyAlyne—the partnership between CAE and KF Aerospace—was awarded the 25-year FAcT contract for the Royal Canadian Air Force. SkyAlyne contract announcement.
In October 2024, CAE announced a separate 25-year subcontract worth approximately C$1.7 billion. The announced work included developing and delivering simulators and training devices for Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and Southport, Manitoba, alongside aircrew training responsibilities. These are contracted activities; the announcement does not establish that every training device has been delivered. CAE subcontract announcement.
Integration and long-term support
Training-system integration concerns how the program’s equipment, software and learning activities work together. Instructor provision, facility operations, in-service support and obsolescence management form related service responsibilities. Anvil North’s CAE training services and sustainment page covers that part of the offering. CAE training services.
