The GE35 and GE70 are gas-electric power units from Canadian manufacturer Pegasus Aeronautics. They generate electrical power for unmanned aerial vehicles, combining a gasoline engine with electrical power management. Pegasus describes the hybrid architecture as supplying onboard loads while managing battery state of charge. Hybrid power architecture.
GE35 and GE70 specifications
The GE35 serves the smaller power requirement, while the GE70 provides a higher electrical output using a larger engine. Pegasus publishes the following figures in its product pages and brochures:
| Published specification | GE35 | GE70 |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | Single-cylinder, two-stroke | Two-cylinder, two-stroke |
| Displacement | 35 cc | 70 cc |
| Base dry weight | 2.60 kg | 3.50 kg |
| Maximum continuous electrical output, brochure figure | 2,000 W | 4,000 W |
| Ideal power range, product-page figure | 1,000–1,750 W | 2,000–3,500 W |
| Initial time between overhauls | 200 hours | 200 hours |
Sources: GE35 product page, GE70 product page, GE35 brochure and GE70 brochure. The brochures state that electrical output varies with platform integration. Base dry weight is not the weight of a complete fuelled aircraft installation.
The published voltage figures need clarification for a specific installation. The GE35 webpage lists 22–50 V and the GE70 webpage lists 50 V, while both brochures specify 24–50 V. These are different published specifications; the applicable voltage and configuration should be confirmed with Pegasus during integration.
Interfaces, cooling and maintenance
Both brochures describe fuel injection, liquid cooling and automatic throttle adjustment in response to electrical demand. They list CAN, serial and PWM control interfaces, including remote starting and options for redundant control connections. These functions connect the generator with the aircraft’s power and control systems. The 200-hour maintenance figure is presented as an initial time between overhauls. How the GD70 differs
Pegasus’s GD70 is a direct-drive propulsion unit with auxiliary electrical generation. Its product page lists 4,500 W of mechanical output and 500 W of electrical output, with a 1,000 W electrical peak. The 4,500 W figure therefore refers to shaft power; it is not comparable to the GE35 and GE70 electrical-output ratings. GD70 specifications.
